Like all professionals, teachers deserve regular feedback on their job performance. TEAM is focused on frequent, constructive conversations about what’s happening in the classroom. Introducing a common language to describe good instruction allows educators to work together to discover ways to improve outcomes for our students.
Every classroom is different. TEAM provides a framework for identifying teachers’ individual strengths and development needs. Teachers will have the opportunity to share their expertise, and to use what they learn in professional development that is directly connected to the work they do with students every day. Every educator has access to the NIET Best Practices Portal, which offers a broad range of resources that allow teachers and evaluators to develop programs and recommendations specific to individual focus areas.
Student learning is the ultimate measure of the success of a teacher, instructional leader, school or district. TEAM encourages educators to use multiple lenses to see what students have learned. Through careful attention to growth and achievement data, educators can assess what students have mastered, and use this information to refine practice and student outcomes over time.
There are great teachers across the state of Tennessee, and we have a lot to gain from their expertise. TEAM provides a way to recognize and learn from our most effective educators. We will learn from their experience to improve instruction, recruitment, retention and training across the state.
