TEAM Trainer Applications

As our summer TEAM trainings sessions are quickly approaching, we are searching for exemplary educators to apply to serve as TEAM Trainers. Specifically, we are seeking two trainers from each of our eight CORE regions. If you know an educator who you feel would be a good candidate for one of these positions, please share this application information sheet with them (see below). Fine Arts Portfolio Model

The State Board of Education recently approved the use of a new fine arts portfolio model that generates individual growth scores for fine arts teachers. This model was designed by a group of Tennessee fine arts educators and is garnering national interest. We are excited to finally be able to provide Tennessee fine arts teachers with an evaluation system that is tied to the measurement of student learning in the arts. Below is a Teacher Guide that explains the model in greater detail. The decision to utilize this model must be made at the district level, but if you would like more information, please reach out to Courtney.Seiler@tn.gov.

Policy Changes for Year Two

Yesterday the State Board of Education approved evaluation policy changes for the 2012-13 school year that we submitted in response to widespread feedback. While these policy improvements are exciting, there is a lot of information to absorb, and the impact of these changes—in most instances—is immediate. TEAM Website

Over the course of the coming weeks, we will be revising our TEAM website to update all of the content and documents to reflect the most current policies and guidelines as we move into year 2. Please know that during this time some documents may not be accessible as they are being updated. We will provide districts with updates about the status of the TEAM website, further guidance on the location of key documents, and a request for your feedback to ensure that the TEAM website is useful to you. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we make these changes.

Educator Evaluation Consultant applications available

The Tennessee Department of Education will be hiring up to eleven Educator Evaluation Consultants to work with school districts during the 2012-13 school year in their implementation of TEAM and three other state approved educator evaluation models (TIGER, COACH and TEM). The position description, compensation and responsibilities can be found in the application linked below. Applications will be accepted through June 25, 2012.

Data System Timelines

On April 9th, data system timelines were distributed through the TEAM Update to support districts and schools in wrapping up this year's evaluations. Both teacher and administrator evaluation data system timelines are included.

Upcoming Events

Recertification Registration Closing - Friday, June 8

Registration for recertification training, for all currently certified observers who will be conducting evaluations next school year, will be available through Friday, June 8. Registration will close at that time to allow for a final count of participants for planning purposes and to determine materials necessary for each session. All other training registration will remain open to allow new hires to register for necessary sessions.

Flexibility Applications - Due April 15th

Applications due April 15 for those districts choosing to apply for TEAM flexibility or to implement a new evaluation model in the 2012-13 school year.
