Description
|
- According to state board rule 0520-02-01 and state board policy 5.201, all educators must be evaluated annually by a certified evaluator.
- The department conducts initial certification and recertification training, administers certification tests, issues evaluator credentials, and provides continuous evaluator support for the TEAM rubric.
- To conduct observations, evaluators must be certified.
- Evaluations conducted by non-certified evaluators are inadmissible and are grounds for a grievance.
- Certification entails participating in an official state-sponsored TEAM training and passing the subsequent online certification test.
- Certification is valid through June of the current school year regardless of the certification date.
- All evaluator certification training for 2022-23 is virtual.
- The certification window for recertification is from June 8, 2022 to August 31, 2022.
- The certification window for initial certification is from June 8, 2022 to March 31, 2023.
- Certification is valid until June 30, 2023.

Initial teacher evaluator certification

- The initial teacher evaluator certification process is designed to prepare evaluators to evaluate teachers and other school service personnel.
- Register for training and the certification test here.
- Invitations are emailed weekly within three business days throughout the certification window beginning June 8. If you do not receive an invitation within three business days following your registration, please contact TEAM.Questions@tn.gov.
- Upon registration, all modules must be completed in the department’s learning management system (LMS) before access to the certification test is granted.
- Once the test is passed, the individual should request the certificate, and credentialed status will be reflected in TNCompass within 7-10 business days.
- Districts must staff evaluators in TNCompass as observers before evaluations may be conducted.
- TASL Credit:
- Completion of the course is awarded 14 TASL credit hours.
- An email confirming TASL credit will be sent to the participant within 7-10 business after course completion.
- Credit may be applied to the 2021-22 or 2022-23 cycle as needed.

Initial administrator evaluator certification

- The initial administrator evaluator training process is designed to prepare evaluators to evaluate administrators.
- Register for training and the certification test here.
